JOSM Eebie submits data to OpenStreetMap using JOSM.

Started with Potlatch 2.0 in 2012 and switched to JOSM after a few months.

Interested in walking and bicycling ways and routes in Limburg, Wallonie and wherever I come. See [1]

Equipment for OSM

  • GPS: Garmin eTrex 20
  • Canon Ixus HS125 for taking pictures as notes (even 'blind' while running or biking without halting).
  • JOSM, THE editor for OSM, on a PC with Ubuntu and 2 monitors

Buildings in JOSM

I am using JOSM and the plugins. You should know that the best way for tagging buildings is different for Vlaanderen, Wallonie and Brussels. Far the most buildings that I have done are Flemish. There is an import tool for importing blocks of about 150x150 meter with the buildings, streetnames and housenumbers from AIV Vlaanderen (the counterpart of PICC): This tool is only usable for Flanders. I guess that there was programmed a similar tool for Brussels.

Some contributors who did a lot of buildings as susvhv in Flanders (and I guess DJ_frombelgium in Wallonie) use another way of working that I use for buildings in Wallonie with:

   - plugin Areaselector : this permits to select buildings (and ponts and other area's) in PICC to copy them.
(I am not sure but I guess that plugin AustriaAddressHelper is also required for this Areaselector plugin, I have it installed).
The areaselector tool has to be finetuned to have it working best
   - plugin Buildingstools is faster for drawing simple rectangular buildings
   - plugin HouseNumberTaggingTool is the fasted way for adding streetnames and housenumbers to builings (by just clicking K)

And very usefull in JOSM: 2 plugins: - SimplifyArea plug-in - utilsplugin2 plug-in - Here is Replace geometry (Ctrl+Shift+G) very usefull if you replace an existing badly drawn building by a better one

It copies the tags of the old one to the new one.

Merging and splitting buildings - combining two connected areas with Shift+J - split areas by drawing a split way (2 points) and pressing Alt+X.
