Hello,

my name is Dr. Franz-Josef Behr. I am Professor for Geoinformatics at SUAS - Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences where we offer (amongst other study courses) a Master program called Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics and a German Bachelor Degree course called Informationslogistik. There things like routing are quite relevant.

Some interesting results of student projects can be found on the page Results of Student Projects. I am currently trying to give support for OSM related student applications for Google's Summer of Code.

My personal homepage can be found here. I am also editor of a geospatial portal site called gis-news.de and founder of two free services - opencts.org (not yet operational) and opengeocoding.org. Additionally I am developer of a WMS server, the so called SUAS MapServer. Digital terrain data in Shape and OSM format are provided at http://geoweb.hft-stuttgart.de/. There you can find also a WMS server providing contour lines.

Mapping interests (work in progress)

My focus is on mapping of roads and footways around Palmbach, a suburb of Karlsruhe (Germany) where I live with my family. Most of my mapping is done while I am jogging or by bike.

HOT CrisisMapping XML Schema Definition

Together with Pnishi, Mentor (mentor.pnishi at yahoo.de), Saveluc, Andra (asaveluc at gmx.de) Sitz, Janka and Shresta, Thomas I developed the XML Schema for Crisis Mapping.

The schema is developed as Geography Markup Language (GML) application schema. GML is a worldwide accepted ISO and OGC standard.

Currently the schema (v0.1) is based on GML 3.1. I plan to maintain it as long as useful.
