Jikka is the former Communications Associate at Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team - Philippines. She aided in the data-driven disaster risk management project PhilAWARE through publicity push, local community engagement, and creation of OSM training videos on the e-Learning platform handed over to stakeholders. She is an advocate of D&I, and is determined to shift the focus of her communications work towards solutions-based journalism and community organizing.
Before joining HOT, Jikka worked in the media industry, managing award-winning marketing communications campaigns for global brands. She brings her experience in media and community engagement to HOT through her involvement in the Community Working Group (CWG). She assisted in the revision of the CWG's Terms of Reference (TOR) in 2021, and has helped organize, document, and facilitate events and activities, including webinars on women participation, colonialism in open data, and field mapping.
She also assisted in HOT's communications for events, including the HOT Summit 2020 (live tweets here), and State of the Map Asia 2022.
Jikka also offered technical support in previous editions of Pista Ng Mapa, and coordinated the production of the corrected narrative video profile of OpenStreetMap Philippines, a project of Amazon Web Services produced by M2Comms.
