Who am I?

I'm a Kiwi (New Zealander) temporarilly on contract to a German company which is part of the same multinational that I usually work for in Christchurch, NZ. I am a senior C++ software developer at this company, which makes GPS and survey equipment, and my area is data collector application development, in particluar where the application interfaces with our company's GPS equipment.

I am trained as a mechanical engineer but have been in commercial software development for ~16 years. Knowing a fair bit about GPS and being interested in spatial things and the idea of open-source data, I am very interested in the concept of OpenStreetMaps. I also am the principal instigator and contributor to a MediaWiki database internal to our company.

I have been a member of OSM since 19 May 2007.
