I have worked in mapping with companies including deCarta, Cloudmade, Uber, Mapbox and now Facebook. I have been a consistent and strong advocate for companies to adopt OSM and to be involved in furthering the project with editing, community support, and tooling improvements. I would like to see OSM become the obvious choice for these companies due to its quality, terms and cost. I do not believe that this is in any way in conflict with the goals of OSM.
