I have lived on Negros Island, Philippines for approximately 20 years, based in Silay City, Negros Occidental. I map and document the Negros Island Region — Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Apo Island — with a focus on transport networks, public markets, coastal access, barangay-level geography, and daily-life infrastructure.
My mapping work is grounded in on-the-ground verification: routes travelled, markets visited, access points checked in person.
Mapping work
- uMap maps — I maintain 20 interactive maps built on OpenStreetMap via uMap, covering transport (143 features), public markets (115 entries), diving sites (110 locations), scenic routes, slow food producers, and town-level maps for Bacolod, Silay, Dumaguete, Valencia, Kabankalan, Sipalay, San Carlos, Apo Island, and Siquijor.
- Focus areas — public transport flow (buses, jeepneys, tricycles, ferries), market days and locations, informal coastal access points, and road conditions on secondary and scenic routes.
