I learned about OSM in January 2013 from an article on slashdot about the one million contributors. Have been mapping my county in Southeastern Illinois and surrounding areas since then and trying to get up to speed with the technology behind OSM. Can't resist the opportunity of accelerating that learning at the Chicago hack weekend.
