Background

I am currently employed at Dordt College in Sioux Center. I enjoy geocaching which originally got me started with carrying my GPS. I found that my 2005 maps are starting to get out of date and hunted for an alternative to keep my maps current. That's how I found openstreetmap.org. I use mkgmap to compile my own maps and have enjoyed fixing data in OSM for my local area. I plan to keep improving this area and any areas that I travel to.

Current OSM Projects

• TIGER fix-up
  • This requires removing the TIGER tags from all nodes,
  • Removing any unconnected, untagged nodes,
  • Resolving duplicated nodes,
  • Resolving duplicated/overlapping highways,
  • Fix bridges/overpasses on motorways and trunk highways,
  • Fix/verify oneway tags on motorways, motorway links, and divided highways
  • Currently working on Iowa
• Create relations for all highways in Iowa
• Generate up-to-date maps using mkgmap for my Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx
• Update POIs as I visit them
• Fix anything else that I might have time for
