University residential landuse

Hi Dan, I saw you just created the tag residental=university, and added it on a couple of pages. If possible, please discuss this on the tagging mailing list before adding this tag as a recommendation on other pages. Cheers --Jgpacker (talk) 11:52, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for the message. I'm pretty sure it was discussed within the past year on tagging. However, when I search my email archives now I can't find it! I remember someone posted about mapping student accommodation - for landuse, not for building - and I joined in the discussion. However I might be wrong and it might have been a different email list. Hmmm. Anyway I tried to be quite clear that the info I added said this was NOT a consensus, just one option that people do use. I will send a message to tagging. --Danstowell (talk) 12:11, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Tag proposal: water_tap

Dan, thanks for your comment on http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Talk:Proposed_features/water_tap, I've just seen it and added a response. --Kotya (talk) 19:25, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

audible:type

On your [[1]] you propose to create {{key|audible|type}. I do agree with all you say but that: type, like object is like saying anything or something: so generic so that nobody knows what is to be expected as value. --Nospam2005 (talk) 17:20, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

Yes. However, we will find that through use of the tag, a good consensus will emerge about what are useful values, just as with other "type" tags in OSM - for example, generator:type or tower:type. The proposed key is "audible:mechanism", but the concept of "mechanism" is too precise. The proposer doesn't seem to be describing a "mechanism", but general type categories. --Danstowell (talk) 17:32, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
