Leaf type on tree species list

Hi Davidpnewton,

thanks for your work on tree tagging. I saw you changed some broadleaved values to palm, in the tree species list. However, as the list says at the start: "Note that those same QA tools may/will break when you modify the structure of the table (e.g. by adding/removing columns, changing the format, ...), so it's good to give them a heads-up if you intent to do so". E.g. this list is used by Osmose, and the code supports only three values at the moment, with palm not being one of them: "allowed_leaf_type = ("broadleaved", "needleleaved", "leafless")". For this reason for the moment I will restore the previous status quo, so the tool will keep suggesting supported leaf types.

Also to be honest I'm not really a fan of this edit, this tag seems to be controversial. --Ivanbranco (talk) 17:00, 7 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
