If there are trees

Then I would tag it natural=wood, and, being pedantic, landcover=trees. This does not say what teh land is used for, if the trees are 'natural' or 'unnatural'. Nor does it exclude 'managed' or unmanaged' trees. It only says 'here there are trees'. Warin61 (talk) 21:53, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

If the land is used to produce timber produce

Then, and only then, I would tag landuse=forest. It does not matter if there are trees here or not. The trees may have been harvested. The trees may be freshly planted. It does not matter what state the trees are in, but that the land continues to be used to produce tree produce. It is the same for landuse=farmland, does not matter if crops are present or not, as long as the use of the land continues to be for farm land. Warin61 (talk) 21:53, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
