Hello, I read that you want to work on cycle-oriented GroundTruth rules. I want to help! FedericoCozzi 11:24, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

That is great! I just started to work on it, so I first have to figure out how to create the rules. User:Breki was so kind to give us the hiking rules as a start and created a page for the cycling rules: GroundTruth Cycling Map. As far as I can tell, these rules are a good start but the certainly have to be adjusted. If you give me your username, we could exchange some ideas of what is important for a cycling map. Maybe we could also just discuss it on the discussion page of the cycling rules, so others can get involved, too. I have to admit that I'm rather new to all these wikis, so I'm not sure about the best way to start. If you have any ideas, please let me know! tikey 19:28, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I forgot to add my signature to my first message. I asked User:Breki to add cycling rules and he promptly did it! I started editing the rule page itself and tinkering with it. GroundTruth looks quite easy and very promising. So far I have added a few POIs which are useful for cyclists and I also made a custom icon for bicycle parkings. I am making other custom icons for bicycle rentals and bicycle shops. So if you want to help you could: 1. make/improve custom icons; 2. list features which could be useful for cyclists (e.g. toilets, pubs, fast food, etc.); 3.think about a colour scheme for ways: ideally this scheme should make cycleways more prominent FedericoCozzi 11:29, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
I was trying to render the cycling paths yesterday, but unfortunately it looks like Qlandkarte isn't displaying the maps properly. So might have to install the Garmin software in a virtualbox and try again, then. Once I have a suggestion for the color scheme I'll let you know... tikey 12:19, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
I made three icons for bicycle rentals, bicycle shops and bicycle parkings. Would you like to see them? (could you please give me your email address?) BTW I am focusing for now on a POI-only cycle map: my first goal is making a trasparent map to supplement Garmin City Navigator (which I own) with cycle-related POIs. When I get this working, I want to tackle a full, opaque map with ways and areas as well.
