About

Our commitment is on using open mapping to promote community development and humanitarian efforts. We help map the world's most vulnerable regions in order to improve humanitarian efforts, give kids mapping skills, and strengthen community resilience. We are willing to work together and provide assistance in order to further mapping efforts.

History

The chapter is started by students of 2018/2019 batch with the department of Geography in University of Sri Jayewardenepura. They were enthusiastic about the mission of YouthMappers community. Currently, there are over 158 students chapter members.

Our Goal

▪️ As a chapter, we want to give students the tools they need to map.
▪️ Create novel solutions to humanitarian problems using data from open sources.
▪️ Work together and establish connections with other YouthMappers chapters worldwide.

Our Objective

▪️ We coordinate, work together, and carry out mapping projects that address real-world development needs worldwide. We generate and use geospatial data and information that is openly accessible through open platforms.

▪️ We lead, learn, and change the world together as we exchange experiences and outcomes.
