A type of accommodation. The term chalet is used in the hospitality industry to describe one or more detached holiday cottages with self-contained cooking facilities and/or bathroom and toilet facilities.

Not to be confused with the swiss term for (private) wood houses, use building=cabin or building=yes instead.

How to map

Set a node Node or draw as an area Area along the building outline. Add tourism=chalet + name=name of location + operator=name of operator. Add building=* when you map a area for a building.

This could apply to Node nodes (single chalet) or Area areas (a group of chalets).

Relationship to tourism=apartment

tourism=chalet is closely related to tourism=apartment. Chalets are one or more detached holiday cottages which you rent exclusively, apartments are several flats in one shared building (or one flat in one part of the building and other usages, like private apartments or restaurants in the other part).
