Routing issues with separately mapped foot- and bike ways

  • To add all the needed level of detail to foot- and bike-ways, we started mapping them separately.
  • Separately mapped ways cause issue for routers.
  • We want to provide a list of solutions and best practises to overcome those issues.

Goal: Ideally, router would implement those best practises for a better routing experience.

Separation schema for bike ways

Goal: Ideally, router would use the detailed bike way tagging (especially the separation tagging) to create save routes or inform about safety issues.

Cycle barriers

Goal: Ideally, router would warn users about cycle barriers that are possible impassable for their bike, especially cargo bikes.
