  • Mapping for Impact: Partnerships program
    • Kaboom was at Mappy Hour and the last two map-a-longs
    • Last map-a-long guest: Eugene and mapped playgrounds in Philadelphia
    • Idea: Compile a list of folks to talk to for expanding Mapping for Impact
    • Seattle greenways could be one
    • Nice foundation laid by Jess - nice to dig into a new program
  • First call for community ambassador program next month
    • Jess will be putting this together!
  • Proposal for NSF
    • Nellie attended a webinar and found the timeline was too tight for this round
    • $450,000 over 3 years would be the reward
    • $100,000 for conference
  • Teach OSMs are now named Map-a-longs, not Mappy Hours
    • Open to anybody - extending beyond educators
    • First Tuesday of every month
  • Government committee
    • recording of last panel available from FedGeoDay
    • Many meetings internally are happening
    • Slack channel for designing the site, logo has started #publicdomainosm
    • Census contest ($25,000 prize) we’re eligible - public domain (data) project!
  • LCCWG
    • Posted etiquette document - opened to 18th of August for feedback
    • Next two weeks of LCCWG meetings cancelled
    • Osm board update happening this Friday
  • NGAC people want to know more about Maggie = good sign
  • Conferences on the radar
    • “All Things Open” conference is going to be in-person/hybrid
    • Maggie is pursuing a travel grant to go to Seattle in Sept. (see FB and others)
  • OSM Birthday event:
    • Aug 8th world birthday 11am UTC - still need four more countries
  • UVA about fall project - Have not heard from them, expect it to ramp up in August
  • Program feature in newsletter starting (updates about OHM and Teach OSM for example)
  • Trails
    • Our response to NPS: we can help them find things and correct them - great examples
    • Elliot had a great talk that was a bit beyond just instructing new users (linking to wikidata-formal)
    • SOTM - frederick talk touched on trails
    • Feedback to GAIA and other 3rd party apps can be provided
  • GeoLadies night will happen in Sept. - looking for a host

Open Discussion

  • OSMUS talk list: Would be good to develop one
  • Hiring person for iDeditor
    • Discussion about the difficulty of hiring for this position occurred
    • Dani is attending osmf mtg august 10th - she can ask
    • Board mtg is on Friday (topic already on the agenda during the closed session)
    • Larger philosophy question: We don’t want these tools to be fully corporate, but we don’t always have the capacity to do the work
    • Positive - there IS a new version!
  • OSMF finances - discussed
  • Bylaws -
    • We need to bring these for a vote again
    • In the past, low turnout has meant threshold to pass hasn’t been met
    • What is our open rate of emails? If that’s not 50% this could affect turnout
  • Feb March for SOTMUS in Tucson - still need feedback about the 100 restrictions
    • For those who don’t get their talks in, they can do the fall Mapping USA
    • Vaccination policy?
      • State (AZ) has rules against mask mandates
      • Maybe hybrid conference is the answer
      • U of AZ will have their own guidance
