learnOSM Translation

There have been major developments recently but a discussion has been deferred until Nick will be present in a meeting.

TM3 development

Blake gave an update on the status and timeline. All planned features have been implemented with the exception of the default project instructions. Currently two projects are active on TM3 including mapping and validation and provide feedback. The resulting bugfixes should be finished by the end of this month.

Blake wants to hold 3 community walk-throughs in July in order to familiarize a wider audience of project administrators and mappers with the new project flow and modified interfaces. From that moment on gradually more projects would be created on TM3.

There will be a point in time (probably end of July) when TM2 will no longer accept project creation and locking of tasks for mapping/validation. It might however continue to serve as an archive for existing projects. The database has been nearly completely migrated to TM3 so that the level of experience of users is retained. Legacy projects might however look improperly formatted on TM3 because the interface expects a number of additional properties to be set.

Blake also mentioned that the Activation WG is currently dormant and thus not involved in TM3 development/roll-out.

Ralph noted that we should make sure learnOSM is up-to-date for the roll-out. He suggested preparing a "what's new" document for people who are familiar with TM2 and do not want to read the complete TM3 documentation in order to find out what has changed. Blake will update his new TM3 manuals on GitBook as a couple of things changed since he prepared the document.

Melanie and Ralph shared a number of additional resources on validation:

Melanie asked if someone could help in providing a JOSM-based video for the Missing Maps page on validation.

Other Business

Ralph mentioned that there is an ongoing discussion on remote places and names and how to add them to the database. He will inform the TrWG on new developments there.
