Legal access restriction for horse-drawn
carriages
and other horse-drawn vehicles like
wagons and
carts.
In the UK horse-drawn carriages are not permitted on motorways and a very small number of other roads, such as the Conwy Tunnel and the Penmaenbach Tunnels on the A55. They are permitted to use restricted byways.
In general the tag is likely to be used in two special cases:
- Motor roads which specifically exclude horse-drawn carriages.
- Paths and tracks where they are allowed.

Notes and references
- ↑ In Dutch legalese, animal-drawn vehicles are bespannen wagens, which are among the various classes of slow road users banned by this sign (some of which are not depicted). More specific traffic signs for bespannen wagens no longer exist since 1991.
- ↑ In Ohio, horses-and-buggies are considered roadworthy unless otherwise specified. Nevertheless, when a "Share the Road" sign is posted as a warning to motorists, buggy drivers have more certainty as to a legal right-of-way.
