The key irrigation=* is used in 2 ways:
- irrigation=yes is used with linear way features tagged waterway=* to specify that an artificial waterway carries water to be used for agriculture, usually together with waterway=canal or sometimes waterway=ditch. The less common tag irrigation=ditch is also used in this way with waterway=ditch.
- irrigation=pivot is used with area features tagged landuse=* to specify that a central pivot type irrigation system is used to water the area of farmland, meadow, orchard or vineyard.
