Heated roads (also known as a Snowmelt system[1]) are roads heated by either electricity or hydronic tubes to keep them clear of ice and snow in the winter. The tag is used in combination with the winter_service=*.
Usage
| Value | Description |
|---|---|
| yes | The road or area is heated and therefore always free of ice and snow. |
| no | Default. The road or area is not heated. Other winter service methods may be used. |
For the 70 instances as of 2024-10, only 5 are used on highway=* roads (in Turku, Finland). The vast majority are found on highway=bus_stop and highway=platform in Milwaukee.
