Hungary has launched a use-proportional road toll system for vans and trucks over 3.5 tons in 2013. The exact rules can be found in the law text (Nemzeti fejlesztési miniszter 25/2013. (V. 31.) számú rendelete). Appendix 1 enumerates the toll road sections. Use-proportional toll is established by a direct proportion between the fee and the section length, and by requiring a new ticket for each use (and for each direction). Contrary to the toll system for cars, there is no duration-based vignette, season ticket, or other bulk discount.
Value of ed direction shows the direction of the OSM element compared to the toll road section with the identifier edid. The latter generally points to increasing segments. Because a one-way road (especially implicit ones, such as motorway links) cannot be reversed, it may be needed to mark toll payment in the reverse direction.
A typical example is a motorway consisting of two paths, that are one-way in the opposite direction. The right path (increasing segments/milestones) has a matching direction with the toll section. The left path (decreasing segments/milestones) is in the reverse direction.
|forward||Direction of the OSM polyline and direction of the toll payment match. This is the default value, may be omitted.|

- The direction of each toll section is important because one has to buy the tickets compared to it.
- A given ed direction is only valid with the date. It had already happened that the law had indicated wrong direction. When it was later corrected, the section identifier was left unchanged.
