Many uses of this key come from data imports, where the attribute provides an indication of the accuracy of the data. This tag is also used to designate the accuracy of a coordinates, with the usage of accuracy=##.# (in metres); for this purpose, see Precision of coordinates.

The most used combination is with waterway=*. (taginfo)
