Definition

The key backcountry=* is a qualifying key of tag tourism=camp_site.

Backcountry camping without facilities. The access is usually restricted to foot, bicycle, canoe or ski. Often access with motorized vehicles is not allowed. Occasionally such sites can have access to drinking water, compost toilets, waste disposal etc. in such cases the amenity=* tag is used if possibly.

Important

Although normally informal campings or not established campings have no facilities, this tag gives no information about its "officiality" . For example, some official campings have no faciliteis, only space for tents and drinking water: Сарабей,Армянка. So, it is important to distinguish these properties.
