Difference with camp_site=basic?

The current description suggests these campsites are characterized by lack of motorvehicle access. But this can be tagged with the widely used access tag motorvehicle=no

The lack of facilities can be tagged with the approved tag camp_site=basic - however the current description of backcountry=* suggests that not all backcountry=yes campsites are without features: some may have water, toilets and waste bins.

So, how should a mapper determine if a particular campsite qualifies for the tag backcountry=yes?

Can a campsite with motor vehicle access, simple toilets, water and a waste bin, but no other features, be tagged with backcountry=yes? --Jeisenbe (talk) 15:07, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

Jeisenbe: I suppose that campsite=basic is for legal designated camping spot, while backcountry=yes is for "illegal" non-designated camping spot. Claudio tam (talk) 13:36, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
