deflection=* indicates the angle (in degrees) you have to deflect from the direction of travel/line of the path to pass through a barrier. This value can help to better evaluate the passability of a barrier for means of transport such as cargo bikes. Usually, the specification of this value is only useful for diagonal/angled barriers or passages. The value can be measured on the ground or sometimes from good aerial images.
