A name in the Boontling variant of English.

This key is used like name:en, but for a name in Boontling, rather than for a name in English.

This key is used for

  • a name which is clearly in Boontling (a name which contains Boontling words which are not English words, or Boontling-specific usages of English words; "English" here and below means standard American English), for example Boont
  • a name which is not obviously in Boontling, and may be the same as the English name for the same place, but which is important to Boontling speakers and defined in the literature on Boontling, for example The Corners

This key is not used for names of historical places of which there is no longer any physical trace in the real world, because OpenStreetMap is not intended for such places.

Most Boontling names are found in and around Anderson Valley in Mendocino County, California, where Boontling arose and was widely spoken.

Software support

Boontling can be enabled in OpenStreetMap Americana by setting the language to "en-boont".
