Usage with vending machines

Some vending machines (e.g. parking meters or ticket machines) accept notes but do not give change. Some parking meters calculate the parking time based on the amount of money inserted. Overpaying results in a longer parking time than intended. Fuel dispensers with integrated payment functions at unattended gas stations dispense fuel until either the prepaid amount is used up or the tank is full – in either case, no refund or change is given. This information is important for users to know in advance how much money they need to have ready.

Possible values

If payment:notes=yes is set, you may add:

  • payment:notes:change=yes – The vending machine gives change (in notes or coins) when paying with notes. Temporary restrictions – for example, depending on the purchase value or the level of change – are not taken into account.
  • payment:notes:change=no – The vending machine generally does not give change when paying with notes.

Usage with parking areas

If payment:notes=yes is also used on the corresponding parking area (in addition to the parking meter), you may also add payment:notes:change=yes/no there.

Further use

Public restrooms that require a coin to unlock the door.
