The rapids:name=* can be used to specify the name of a rapid when the rapids=* is mapped on a waterway=* and the name=* is already used for the waterway that flows through the rapid.
Similar to the variants of the basic name=* tag, you may also use the following variants (including their localized variants with the language code such as rapids:name:en=*):
Small rapids may also be mapped as single node of the waterway tagged waterway=rapids. When rapids are mapped this way, name=* should be used to denote the name of the rapid.
