MapPoster (mapposter.xyz) is a browser-based tool that renders custom wall-art posters from OpenStreetMap data. Users search for any location worldwide, apply a visual style, and export the result as a print-ready image or printed poster. No account is required to use the editor.

Overview

MapPoster is aimed at home decor and gifting use cases (weddings, housewarmings, anniversaries, travel memories). It is broadly similar in purpose to services such as Grafomap and Mapiful.

The service covers any location for which OSM has coverage. Dedicated landing pages exist for 170+ cities, and arbitrary addresses, neighbourhoods or coordinates can be entered via the search box.

Data sources

The underlying geometry — roads, water bodies, parks, landuse, coastlines — is rendered from OpenStreetMap data. Attribution is displayed on the site footer and on generated posters in accordance with the Open Database License.

Geocoding of user-entered locations is handled via OSM-based geocoding.

Features

  • Search by city, address, or coordinates
  • Multiple rendering styles, including minimalist monochrome styles and stylised artistic themes
  • User-editable text overlays (title, subtitle, coordinates, custom labels)
  • Optional point markers and route lines (e.g. for "where we met" or running-route posters)
  • High-resolution digital exports suitable for printing up to A1 / 24×36"
  • Optional physical print fulfilment via a print-on-demand partner, shipped internationally

Attribution

MapPoster attributes OpenStreetMap contributors on both the website (footer credit linking to openstreetmap.org/copyright) and on the poster output, as required by the ODbL.
