Ideas for future Mapzen editors.

Transparency of areas

Areas have an opaque style now, so that the underlying aerial photography can't be seen. This especially is annoying for the residential areas. I think areas should have a more transparent style, so that you can work with the aerial photography. --Willem1 18:47, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

House numbering

I think house numbering should be added to the Points panel. --Willem1 18:47, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Future editors

It would be great to have editors for Windows Mobile and Android, even if all they can do is add/edit tags on existing ways and nodes and add POIs. Daveemtb 13:42, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Offline POI collection

I've found the POI collector incredibly frustrating to use. Most of my mapping is done as a side activity while I'm out on the bike; what I want to do is quickly collect the point of interest and a note, then move on; then add tags & upload later (out of the wind & rain!). POI collector is worse than this in that it requires a data connection to collect points in the first place, wants to load the map to do so, and so on. In rural areas, and even in some city areas, data connections are poor or non existent, and the tool fails. POI collector wants me to wait & see what POIs are already collected in the area before adding mine - frankly, I don't care; I want to collect the point now, as quickly as possible, then deal with conflicts when I come to do an upload, later.

What I'd like: an offline data collection mode, where I can tap to collect data (requiring a certain degree of accuracy from the GPS). The map is not shown, and the points remain after I turn off the app (again, unlike POI collector...lost a bunch of work this way). Collecting a point should take one tap; no hunting through tagging menus with cold hands. Later, back at base, I can review a queue of gathered points to upload or remove them. Tapping a point in my list brings up an interface much like the current POI collector - except that the map is centred on the point from my list, not the GPS. This screen requires online access. Uploading a point removes it from my queue.

Beyond this, there are options to collect points in a smarter way - eg take a picture, record a voice memo, etc etc. But please separate collecting points from tagging and uploading. Bazzargh 13:56, 15 October 2010 (BST)
