Existing transit routes

(unverified if they are properly tagged, or complete, etc.)

PTNA provides a daily analysis of route_master and route relations found in the area of City of Boston on it's US sub-page. A CSV list can be compiled to list the exepected (= exist in reality) in this Wiki.

MBTA Data

The MBTA provides their own data which can be useful for updating OpenStreetMap. Note that in general this shouldn't be directly used imported, but only used as a reference alongside other sources like on-the-ground surveying and aerial imagery.

Often the easiest way to reference this data during editing is via the GeoJSON exports. For example, in the iD editor, go to the "Map Data" tab on the right side, click the ••• to the right of "Custom Map Data", and paste in the GeoJSON URL below and click OK (and ensure the "Custom Map Data" box is then checked) to see the data on the map. You can then click on one of the nodes to see the detailed properties of it and use to reference while you edit.
