OpenHistoricalMap/OHM Contributors

From OpenStreetMap Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Open Historical Map would not exist without the software contributions of countless people in the OpenStreetMap (OSM) community and the larger OSM ecosystem. The first and foremost credit goes to them. Special credit also goes to those who helped get OHM off the ground.

The list of Data Contributors below is by no means complete, but where possible, the OHM community attempts to credit all those – both individuals and organizations – who have helped build this project. Specifically included are contributors who have requested specific attribution, as well as those whose data licensing dictates they be included.

There is no single "global" copyright or license for the data stored in OHM. Rather, each object contains metadata indicating the terms of its use. So, the license terms of the OHM Contributors should also be found as tags on the OHM data objects the provided.

In a world of interconnected data, the concept of Linked Open Data is critical to the future of this project. It is likely that many geo-focused sources of Linked Open Data, e.g., Pelagios, Pleiades, the World Historical Gazetteer, and the Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names, may drive the creation of data inside OHM, using data sharing formats such as Linked Places. In addition, LOD sources like Wikidata and Europeana.

Notes on Adding Contributor Attributions

Please be sure to include all appropriate records for attribution, including source of the data, permanent links to any communications authorizing the use of the data (e.g. uploading or storing the communications here on the OHM wiki).

OHM users
