What
DRubiX shows guests near a DRubiX cube (holiday flats, hotels, shops) lists of restaurants and activities built from OpenStreetMap. Local businesses can book a clearly labelled ad on these lists. When booking, the business owner links the ad to the business's OSM object and states facts about the business.
With the owner's explicit consent to the ODbL, we add some of these facts to the business's OSM object:
| Tag | Values |
|---|---|
dog
|
yes, leashed, no
|
wheelchair
|
yes, limited, no
|
website
|
the business's own website |
phone
|
the business's phone number in international format |
If the business is not in OpenStreetMap yet, we add it as one node at its address after checking for duplicates, with name, addr:street, addr:housenumber, addr:postcode, addr:city, the tags above and one category tag chosen from a fixed list of common business types (for example amenity=restaurant, amenity=cafe, shop=bakery, craft=winery, tourism=guest_house, leisure=fitness_centre + sport=yoga). The position is the geocoded address at house level; if the geocoder only finds the street or the town, no node is created. The administrator checks the position in the changeset and moves the node if it is off..
What we do not do
- No new objects other than an advertiser's own business that is missing: one node, at its address, never a building outline or area, never a duplicate (we search the surroundings by name first and link to an existing object instead).
- No deletions, no changes to existing names, positions, categories, opening hours or any tag not listed above.
- No overwriting: if a tag already has a different value, we do not change it. We tell the owner to use the note feature or to edit it themselves.
- No mass edits, no scripts that edit without a human: every change is reviewed and sent one object at a time.
- No ad content, prices or anything promotional goes into OSM.
How
- The owner links the ad to an OSM object (search via Nominatim) and ticks a separate, voluntary ODbL consent checkbox — or gives that consent in writing (e-mail, messenger), which a DRubiX administrator records with channel and date.
- A DRubiX administrator checks that the business belongs to the advertiser (web page, imprint, phone call if in doubt).
- The administrator sees the proposed tags next to the current tags from the OSM API and sends only tags that are missing. One changeset per business.
- If no object exists: the administrator searches the surroundings for the business by name, picks the category from the list, reviews the complete tag set and creates the node. One changeset per business.
- Changeset tags:
comment=Add dog/wheelchair/website/phone for <name> as stated by the business owner(existing object) orcomment=Add <name> as stated by the business owner(new node),source=business owner,created_by=DRubiX,hashtags=#DRubiX.
Expected volume
Low: a few changesets per week at most.
