Organised Editing/Activities/Digilu
Digilu
Coordinating organisation: Digilu, Inc., a brand management company in California, United States.
Contact: hello@digilu.com, or the OSM account Digilu.
Changeset hashtag: #digilu
Goal
Digilu manages the public presence of a small number of client businesses. Where a client operates from a real, publicly accessible premises that is not yet in OpenStreetMap, we add a point for it with the owner's confirmation, and we correct details that have gone stale.
The reason we are doing this rather than only editing commercial directories: a business whose location is absent from open map data is missing from a lot of things that read it, and those are the same maps and assistants their customers use. We would rather the open record be accurate than only the proprietary ones.
Scope, and what we deliberately do not do
This is a small, slow, manual activity. It is not an import and it is not automated.
- Only businesses that physically exist. We do not add online-only brands. This is enforced in our own tooling rather than left to judgement: our internal system that finds "missing from OpenStreetMap" results marks a brand with no premises as not-applicable, because a point for a business with no location would be putting something in OSM that does not exist.
- We do not add our own company. Digilu has no walk-in premises, so it does not belong in OSM and we have not added it.
- Only with the business owner's confirmation of their own address, hours and contact details. We do not copy details from a directory and assume they are current.
- No bulk edits, no imports, no scripted editing, no automated accounts.
- No copying from proprietary sources. Nothing is taken from Google Maps, Apple Maps, Yelp, or any other database with terms we cannot comply with.
- We do not edit anything unrelated to a client's own premises.
Data sources
The business owner, directly, for their own details. Existing OSM geometry is reused rather than redrawn: for example the first premises we intend to add sits inside way 436797694, which is already mapped.
Tools
The standard iD editor on openstreetmap.org. No custom or non-standard tools.
Accounts
This is a single organisational account. There are no other participants at this time. If that changes, this page is updated before the new account edits.
Timeframe
Ongoing from August 2026, at a rate of a handful of edits, and often none, per month.
Activity, and cleanup
Because the volume is small, every changeset is described in its own comment and carries the hashtag above.
If the community objects to any edit we have made, revert it and tell us at hello@digilu.com. We will not re-add it while the objection is open, and we would rather be told than have it discovered later. If we get a convention wrong we would like to know which one, so the next edit is right.
Results
Edits to date: none. The first is expected in August 2026. This section is updated as the activity proceeds.
