VK Maps Team

VK Maps (former Maps Mail.ru) is a department of VK company that develops map services.

Editing goals and geographies

VK uses OSM data in its geoservices. The company is interested in full and reliable data especially concerning roads and addresses. So, we contribute mainly to the layers of roads/buildings/addresses on the territory of Russia.

Our team members don’t leave feedback on changesets without reply, so you are welcome to comment any edit as usual. The primary OSM account to send your questions about VK Maps Team editing process as a whole is Alexey Zakharenkov (on osm).

Editing process

At present VK Maps Team doesn’t use any custom or non-standard tools for edits. We map in manual mode taking data from legal sources mainly listed here: RU:Россия#Источники данных

The team uses #vk_maps (#maps_mail_ru till November 2021) hashtag for the edits.
