LDS vs FLDS

If you're proposing to replace denomination=mormon with denomination=latter_day_saint how should I tag Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints then? maro21 18:20, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

This is already addressed by the proposal under the Tagging heading. Other churches from the Restorationist movement should get their own denomination=* value. The exact values are not specified. Over on the forum post where I started this discussion, Minh shared some good context for the original meaning of denomination=*, and what it's come to mean now. I'll also note that the existing denomination=mormon is not appropriate for the FLDS church, since the wiki page specifies that it is only for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. --Dknelson9876 (talk) 19:04, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

@Maro21: Why worry about the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints? Its one temple and the surrounding ranch haven't been tagged as denomination=mormon since 2012. If you'd like to change it back to denomination=mormon, we can hash that out without going through the formal feature proposal process. – Minh Nguyễn ^💬 02:18, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Please delay the voting for another 2 weeks after posting to the mailing list

Sadly, it looks like this proposal wasn't sent to the tagging mailing list (or had a separate thread added for it in the forum), so starting the voting is premature. I'm likely to support once the voting starts, but we should follow the process and make sure anyone only watching the mailing list or the tag on the forum has a chance to chime in. I did send an email to tagging list on the day that I opened the RFC period here two weeks ago. I received an automated response that it had to wait for moderator approval, but after no other messages for two weeks I figured all was good. Yeah, according to the archives, it doesn't look like it went thru. :-( That's ... not a good UI we have there -- sorry about that! I'd suggest just posting to the forum (using the form letter on Proposal_process#Mandatory_announcements) and someone who is subscribed can pass it along to the mailing list.
