Definition: Gives the compass direction of an asymmetric point feature

For asymmetric point features, this gives the compass direction of the asymmetry or which direction the node object points towards.

The degrees are measured between 0 and 360 where 0/360 means Grid North and 180 means Grid South.

Specific uses

  • When used on a node with highway=stop, points in the direction of travel (along the underlying way) controlled by the stop sign.
  • When used on a node with traffic_sign=*, points in the direction of the face of the sign.
