Paving stones lanes for a two-tracked vehicles (motorcars) so that the tires always run on the paving. There might be sand, ground, grass, pavers, asphalt, etc. in between them. This is sometimes additionally tagged with surface:middle=*. Note that if you tag a single-tracked way you just use paving_stones, since there are no lanes.

You can specify smoothness=* to indicate the quality.
