A satellite dish is a dish-shaped type of parabolic antenna designed to receive or transmit information by radio waves to or from a communication satellite.

For radio telescopes that serve the exploration of space use man_made=telescope + telescope:type=radio.

If it is a large satellite dish whose purpose you do not know may can use man_made=communications_dish. Also see man_made=tower with tower:construction=dish.

This attribute is not suitable for private house antennas. But tag naming not excluding them is going to be inevitably ending in tag being used for marking them.

How to map

Add a node node or draw an area area of the structure.

Add the tag man_made=satellite_dish.

Tags used in combination

  • name=* - rarely used; most dishes are not named
  • ref=* - for a reference number used to identify the dish
  • operator=* - the name of the company which operates the dish
