Useful combination
Status: de facto

motorcycle=no is applied where motorcycle access is not legal, not obvious from other tags.

Use motorcycle=private if access is heavily restricted (though in real mapping difference between this two tag is minor or nonexistent)

Useful where motorcycle access differs from state for other vehicles.

If access to all vehicles differs from general access, using vehicle=no would be a better idea.

If access to all motor vehicles differs from vehicle access or general, using motor_vehicle=no would be a better idea.

If access applies to everyone, then using access=no is a better idea.

Cases where this tag is not applicable

  • completely closed road - for example highway=track with access=no, not tagged explicitly as it is inherited from access=*
  • pedestrian road - highway=pedestrian where motorcycle access can be assumed to be illegal - not tagged explicitly as it is obvious (adding vehicle=no also would be pointless)
