This tag is for an Indian Route, a type of road route on an Indian reservation in the U.S. state of Arizona. An Indian Route is marked with signs bearing a corner-notched projectile point against a black background, standardized by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). This is not to be confused with the serrated arrowhead of a Bureau of Indian Affairs route elsewhere in the country or the arrowhead marker for Navajo Routes on the Navajo Nation. Note that ADOT sometimes posts Indian Route markers instead of the correct Navajo design within state rights of way. [1]
