place=subdistrict is a subdivision of a district used for administrative or other purposes.

How to Map

When the subdistrict boundaries are unknown, it's possible to represent a subdistrict as a node tagged with place=subdistrict along with name=*.

If the boundaries are known, a more common approach is to map subdistricts using a relation tagged as type=boundary, boundary=administrative, and admin_level=*.

When representing the subdistrict as a boundary relation, it is not recommended to use place=subdistrict on the relation itself. However, it can be included on a separate Role label-node to indicate the placement of the subdistrict label.
