Example of the same road traced using the same GPS

This is a quick example of traces which diverge significantly. Ideally screen grabs from josm etc would be used to illustrate further.

These examples traces were all made with a Garmin etrex Summit HC with WAAS/EGNOS enabled in Feb 2010:

http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/SK53/traces/625927 (same road twice) http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/SK53/traces/625638

Road was EX-116 from Dehese de Moheda Alto to junction with EX-102 & to junction with Ex-118. Compare these traces with those of other users as well.

Naming

Is it worth suggesting consulting local council documentation to resolve "nameless" features? -- M526244 06:21, 7 August 2010 (BST)

Content from Editing Standards and Conventions page

There's an old section on accuracy at Editing Standards and Conventions#Accuracy. Should probably merge some of that content to here, and just leave a quick summary on that page. -- Harry Wood 15:05, 21 August 2010 (BST)
