Talk:Calgary Transit

network=*
Currently, the recommendation is to use network=Calgary Transit. However, a default point feature type, called CT, already exists that automatically sets bus stop network values as follows.
TagInfo
Looking at the tag info, there are nearly 10-times as many features tagged with network=CT.
Network Abbreviations
In the article, Buses#Adding a bus route to OpenStreetMap, the description of network=* permits using abbreviations. While the article, Key:network#Public transit, states,
There is currently no consensus whether the values should be abbreviated or not.
Recommendations
Since a default feature type already exists, there are significantly more uses of network=CT, and network abbreviations are permissible, I suggest the following.
- Modify Calgary Transit#Bus Stops to recommend using
network=CTfor the Regular bus stop, Future bus stop, and Bus zone sections - Manually replace existing
network=Calgary Transittags withnetwork=CT - Add the section Possible tagging mistakes to Calgary Transit with the following information

- FYI I've changed all of the references in the article to recommend the opposite: tag for "Calgary Transit", not "CT". The "CT" tag is no longer recommended by the Name Suggestion Index, and regardless of its frequency of use, was not abbreviated for any particularly good reason in the first place.
