HTTP Accept

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/HTTP_Protocol_Specification#GET_request

This line is very strange: "Accept: text/html, image/gif, image/jpeg, *; q=.2, */*; q=.2"

I expected that the client must accept "text/xml". This is a source for bugs.

Delete?

I propose this page should be deleted. It is out of date, and has been for several years. It is also of little help to anyone who might need to know how HTTP works, and is about as relevant to OSM as explaining how decimal numbers work for lat/lons. The API itself is explained elsewhere on this wiki; HTTP is explained elsewhere much more clearly and usefully. Gravitystorm 14:01, 14 September 2010 (BST)
