Configuration

please give an url for users to register to the Geochat service. --Samusz (talk) 23:56, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

What do you mean? There is no registration required besides the one in the plugin: just enter your name and talk. If you want to use another server, put its URL into geochat.server field in advanced preferences. --Zverik (talk) 09:30, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your timely reply. On my side giving a username (samusz) and pressing the login button doesn't do anything. JOSM version is 5990 and plugin's is 29592. Is there something I am missing ? Maybe a java update ? --Samusz (talk) 17:24, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Follow up:: I have done an update from 1.6.0_23 to java 7 update 25, unistalling all previous versions. Problem remains the same. Platform is win7. Will give a try on ubuntu. --Samusz (talk) 17:59, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Please run JOSM with console (e.g. run "cmd" with Ctrl+R, then "cd" to the JOSM folder, then type "java -jar josm-tested.jar") and check what is written there when you try to login to geochat. If you are getting no error messages in the editor, this surely is a bug. --Zverik (talk) 03:02, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

Errors

For me, the JOSM-Console reports java.io.IOException while connecting to a chat server: Failed to parse JSON: Provider org.glassfish.json.JsonProviderImpl not found. I'm also getting a modal dialog box saying that there was no response from the server and I should check my Login-Data. HTH --rayquaza (talk) 13:18, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

It is a problem with JOSM and that some of its authors decided to remove some code from the plugin: http://josm.openstreetmap.de/ticket/9636 I'm still waiting for a fix. Sorry. --Zverik (talk) 09:57, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
