status: proposed?

@Zverik: hm, I'm not sure I follow change of status? My understanding of status values is that any tag that is in use (e.g. via ATYL policy) qualifies by default for in use status. If/when it becomes popular enough, it is promoted to de facto, perhaps you were thinking of that? AFAIK, for the tag to have proposed status, it needed to follow proposal process instead; in which case one should link to its proposal page too via statuslink attribute of Template:KeyDescription. Or do you have different understanding?

(Also as a side note, I think that using "This is a minor edit" checkbox in wiki should be used only for non-content changing edits, e.g. for fixing a spelling typo or improving formatting, or undoing obvious unrelated spam) --mnalis (talk) 23:40, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

26 usages for a tag that applies to millions of paths is not exactly "in use". Basically somebody invents a tag, uploads a few objects to the database, and voila — "in use", perfectly fine. Maybe we need a separate status, like "not proposed" or "informal" or "not much in use". --Zverik (talk) 14:00, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
community discussion "Wiki Status of tags: proposed or in-use (for low-usage ATYL)?" preference seem to be to use "in-use" for low-usage ATYL tags which have not used proposal process; but second-rated idea it to propose separate status. --mnalis (talk) 15:23, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
