The current `diet:kosher=*` tag is pretty limited in what it can represent. See my forum post for more Ideclon (talk) 14:03, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Possible (tentative) Tag expansion

Given the many details we need to add about kosher status I started ("*be bold*") to tag this way:

diet:kosher = yes/no

diet:kosher:meat/milk/parve = yes/no

diet:kosher:certification = regular/mehadrin/mehadrin minhamehadrin/badatz

diet:kosher:agency = rabbanut, OU, StartK, Bet Yosef, Edat Haredit...

diet:kosher:shomer_shviit = yes/no (Israel only)

one possible issue is parallel certification by different agency. Would probably be easier to keep them on the same order between certification and agency

more tags could include the teudat expiration date, but would be an ongoing updating task as all have usually expiration on pesach eve.

a "last checked" could be easier manageable

Possibly also if they sell their chametz?

In chutz l'aretz, most tedu'ot expire on the same Gregorian date every year, so I've been generally attempting to tag those. Ideclon (talk) 12:45, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
It doesn't change the fact that having an expiration date without updating it every year would be useless. I don't see myself checking yearly the teudot validity. EdoM (lets talk about it) 09:49, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've actually caught multiple restaurants now with expired te'udos due to checking the dates to add to OSM 😉.
But yes, I think I'd be on board with a `check_date:diet:kosher for the last date the kashrus details were confirmed. Ideclon (talk) 12:49, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
