Several people
How should I tag a road/street if it's named after several people? E.g. named after two brothers from 18th century.

- Can you use Semi-colon value separator? Vazhnov Alexey (talk) 09:19, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks. Makes sense. Just used it like this: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/382238315/history/12 Mccartney436 (talk) 09:49, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
How to pick the exact subject?
Do we have any guidelines on what to put as the value when the name is clear (in common sense), but there are multiple slightly overlapping concepts in Wikidata?
E.g.
- the "Irish Street" - is it named after Ireland (the island) or Ireland (the country)?
- same typically applies to species / genus - e.g. "Sunflower street" - is it this or that?

- The formal answer is probably:
- This depends on the value in Key:name:etymology. The Wikipedia people should help you converting this. The value in Key:name:etymology should reflect whatever the city/town/locality dedicated it to.
- Practically, for the samples, I'd consider the island or the people. For the plant, the common name.
- You can have multiple values if the etymology is vague or indirect. 99 tabazan (talk) 09:18, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
