This tag doesn't make any sense

As it is used now it essentially duplicates corresponding building values, not to mention that it is confusingly named. I could see some value in describing the type of stage and potentially other infrastructure. SimonPoole (talk) 15:54, 7 May 2024 (UTC)

Agree. This amphitheater in a park has a covered stage/bandshell and mostly open-air seating. I've tagged the covered parts with `building=roof`. None of the `theatre:type` tags fit well. Nanepiwo (talk) 03:58, 20 September 2026 (UTC)
